Kim Krause

My name is Kimberly Krause. I am honored to be the first breast cancer patient to graduate from the Provision Center for Proton Therapy.

My journey started last December when I was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 39. I was able to receive amazing care from Dr. Webber who performed my lumpectomy in February. Through mutual friends of my parents we heard about the new radiation treatments being done at the Proton Center and that treatments for breast cancer patients would begin in May.

No one ever wants to hear that you have cancer, but I have been so lucky and blessed to have been diagnosed early, cared for by wonderful doctors, and given this amazing opportunity to have this treatment available to me.

I was able to keep my regular work schedule and continue with my daily routines with very little side effects. I have always lived by the rule that kindness and humor will help get you through anything life throws your way. Everyone at the Proton Center has shown me all those things, through their Culture of Care. I have met so many amazing fellow patients and staff that I will hold dear in my heart for the rest of my life.
